Klimor plants powered with green energy

A photovoltaic installation with a total capacity of 49.84 kWp has been installed on the buildings belonging to the Klimor plant in Gdynia. Its production will cover up to 40% of the company’s annual demand for electricity. It is Klimor’s another investment in green energy – since 2020, the PV system has been supplying electricity to production and office buildings in Pszczółki, and soon a third photovoltaic installation will be launched in plant in Skowarcz.

The PV installation in Gdynia consists of 112 KAISAI monocrystalline modules with half cut cells of 445 Wp and two KAISAI high efficiency inverters. The panels are located on the roofs of office and production buildings, on a ballast structure designed for flat roofs so there was no need to interfere with the sheathing. Annually, the system will be able to generate around 50,000 kWh which will cover around 40% of the plant’s electricity needs.

– “For us, our own PV energy source is a fairly obvious investment thanks to which we are becoming a conscious participant in the energy transition process aimed at increasing the share of RES in Poland’s energy mix.” – says Piotr Świerczek, Chief Operating Officer at Klimor, and adds: – “A system of up to 50 kWp, which is what all three Klimor’s production facilities will soon have, provides us with the best profitability, i.e. the ratio of costs incurred to the rate of return on investment. This is supported by facts such as favorable price of the system, high self-consumption and related possibility of reducing the power fee – and on the other hand – dynamically growing bills for electricity from conventional sources. The photovoltaics investment will pay off us within a few years.”

Another photovoltaic installation is under construction in Skowarcz. Its technical parameters are identical to the PV system in Gdynia and it has also been designed based on KAISAI modules and inverters. The only difference is that it is free-standing and the modules are mounted on frames fastened to the ground. The installation will supply the production plant in Skowarcz, covering approx. 50% of its annual electricity demand.

Apart from the photovoltaic installation, Klimor has been simultaneously implementing another investment in Skowarcz – a modern heating system. This system will include a 400 kW boiler room supported by a cascade of four 120 kW KAISAI heat pumps. The heat pumps will be powered by the photovoltaic installation and connected to the secondary heating circuit of the boiler system. Heat will be distributed to the hall room through the AGB type Klimor air heaters. Efficient control of the heating system will be ensured by Klimor’s advanced proprietary automatics which enables the operation of three independent zones in the halls and visualization of work on HMI controller units. The entire system will cover the needs of two production halls and office buildings. The project also takes into account the prospective expansion of the plant in Skowarcz.

The installation in Gdynia has been made by BIOMAR, while the PV and the heating system in Skowarcz were realized entirely by EKOTEC.
